Hands-on review

An Elixir client that has already been superseded by its own successor. Read this one only to understand where system_one_sdk came from.

Good for

  • Understanding the lineage of the Elixir System One client
  • Elixir teams who already depend on 0.4.x and need the final release

Watch out for

  • The author says plainly: do not start new projects with this package
  • 0.4.1 is the last release of this line
  • Its successor is provider-neutral, which may or may not be what you want

Tested Sep 20, 2026 at 31cd200c5fe0 · Read at the pinned commit; superseded upstream, so we did not benchmark the old line

How we reviewed this: we read the repository at the pinned commit. Since the author has retired the package, we did not evaluate it as a current option.

What it does

typesafe_sdk, by nshkrdotcom, was an Elixir client for TypeSafe’s System One API. Its README now opens with a notice:

Do not start new projects with typesafe_sdk. TypeSafeSDK 0.4.1 is the final release of this package line.

Development moved to system_one_sdk, described as the provider-neutral successor carrying the semantic question API, prepared evaluations, typed answers, batching, telemetry, runtime controls, OTP integration and testing support.

What to know

That’s the review. If you’re starting today, take the successor; if you’re on 0.4.x, this repository is the end of the line and the migration target is named for you.

The one thing worth weighing: the successor is deliberately provider-neutral, so it abstracts over more than one service. If you want a client that tracks TypeSafe’s API exactly, check how closely the abstraction sits before committing.

For clients in other languages, see the Community SDKs.
