Hands-on review

Two commits, no stars, and all three question types with typed errors and retries. Needs Go 1.27, which is newer than most people have.

Good for

  • Go services that want typed decisions without writing HTTP by hand
  • All three question types, with helpers for plain string option lists
  • A small surface you can read in one sitting

Watch out for

  • `go.mod` requires Go 1.27.1, so 1.25 and 1.26 refuse to build it
  • Zero stars, two commits — nobody else is using this yet
  • Published as a module, but effectively unproven

Tested Sep 20, 2026 at 47273ef14ed9 · Go 1.27 in Docker; its own tests, after Go 1.25 refused the module

How we reviewed this: we ran its tests in Docker. On Go 1.25 the module is refused outright (go.mod requires go >= 1.27.1); on 1.27 the suite passes. We made no Jev calls.

What it does

typesafe-go, by Shubham, is a Go client for the System One API: Noul, Choice and Score questions, typed answers, an errors file, environment-based configuration, and examples for quickstart, model listing and retries. There are helpers for the common case of a Choice over plain strings, which is the sort of detail that suggests the author has used their own library.

For a two-commit repository it is more complete than it has any right to be — tests for questions and responses, a changelog, package documentation.

What to know

The Go version requirement is the practical barrier: go.mod demands 1.27.1, newer than many teams are running, and Go will refuse rather than warn. Unless the code needs something from that release, relaxing it would widen the audience considerably.

And it has no users yet. That’s not a criticism of the code, just the reality of adopting a client nobody has exercised in production.

Verdict

A tidy, complete little client that deserves more attention than zero stars. Read the retry and error handling before depending on it, and check whether you can move to Go 1.27.
